What is going on around UCUMC this weekend and this month?

Things you need to know...................

Please be in prayer for our youth this weekend.   They are staying at Epic from Friday to Sunday heading out to help the community each day!
{vintage: SERVE is a onsite retreat just for our 9th-12th grader starting Friday night (10/19) until Sunday morning (10/21). We will be putting aside our distractions for a weekend to give our best to advance the Kingdom of God. SERVE is the culmination of missions, worship, and teaching. }

If anyone is looking for the Exploration Brunch this weekend, please direct them to M201 {That is the conference room right above the Church lobby}

    When people share that they want to connect and reach out to others, help them find the resources.  IHN is a great way to help out!

    FAMILY PROMISE (INTERFAITH HOSPITALITY NETWORK):

    Through IHN, we, and other area churches, help local homeless families to have food, lodging and assistance to get back on their feet. For information about helping out at an Family Promise/IHN event.

    If you are part of a family, you don't want to miss the 26.2 Sermon Series!

    SUNDAYS IN OCTOBER - 26.2

    When you see the number 26.2, do you think of exercise… or family?
    We live in a culture of 50-yard dashes and sprints when it comes to family. Few families go the distance anymore. Many hit 13.1, but fewer and fewer are finishing strong at 26.2. So what does it take to go the distance with your faith and with your family? How can you thrive as a family and finish the race of this life together?
    These questions, and more like them, are what we’ll focus on during the Sundays of October (7, 14, 21 and 28).
    Plan to join us at 10:15 am in the EPICenter where we’ll worship, connect, be resourced and serve the families of our community together.
    Plan to invite others to join you on this month-long race as we cheer each other on and as families we “run with perseverance the race marked out for us… fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith” (Hebrews 12:1b-2a).
    For more information, or to find out how you can get involved on the core team, contact Pastor Tim attimfarrell@ucumc.net... or text Tim at 407.417.1123.

    I would like to share the Daily Devotional from The Upper Room with you today.  I think it speaks to all we do and all we are in the life of the Church.  EVERYTHING we do in HIS name is valuable.  Each small gift or effort we make, Jesus multiplies.  The time, effort and love that you put into serving is amplified in ways you will never even see.  God uses us ALL to make up the  'body of Christ'.  As each part of our bodies plays an important role to us, so does each one of us play an important role to God.  You matter.  Your actions matter.....and by sharing your love and dedication with others you honor our Father and great provider.  Sometimes just showing others our enthusiasm to serve empowers them to get involved as well.
    Never underestimate your gifts and talents.
    Thank you for all you do!

    So Little?

    View the Sept-Oct, 2012 Issue
    A poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.
    - Mark 12:42 (NIV)
    A cell. An atom. An idea. A word. A small donation. One talent. Five loaves and two fish. Dorcas’s needle. David’s five stones. A quick touch of the hem of Jesus’ garment. A smile. A kind word. God has the power to take something that you and I would call little and turn it into something that becomes so much more. God has a way of multiplying our small gift, our small talent, and our small efforts and turning them into things that accomplish a great deal. Our reading for today tells of the boy in a large crowd with a small lunch that fed thousands. The boy offered what he could; Jesus prayed over it and then used it to feed a multitude. This boy’s simple lunch is something we’re still talking about today. What if we offered to God our small gifts, talents, and work, prayed about them, and asked God to use them? If we truly believe God’s power is at work in us and through us, our little could do much. In fact, if we just step back and look, we may see what God has already been doing. Looking at what God has done in our past can strengthen our resolve to make ourselves available in our future.
