26point2

SUNDAYS IN OCTOBER - 26.2

When you see the number 26.2, do you think of exercise… or family?
We live in a culture of 50-yard dashes and sprints when it comes to family. Few families go the distance anymore. Many hit 13.1, but fewer and fewer are finishing strong at 26.2. So what does it take to go the distance with your faith and with your family? How can you thrive as a family and finish the race of this life together?
These questions, and more like them, are what we’ll focus on during the Sundays of October (7, 14, 21 and 28).
Plan to join us at 10:15 am in the EPICenter where we’ll worship, connect, be resourced and serve the families of our community together.
Plan to invite others to join you on this month-long race as we cheer each other on and as families we “run with perseverance the race marked out for us… fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith” (Hebrews 12:1b-2a).
For more information, or to find out how you can get involved on the core team, contact Pastor Tim attimfarrell@ucumc.net... or text Tim at 407.417.1123.

HELPING SEMINOLE COUNTY HELP KIDS

Along with many other churches, we have agreed to help provide weekend food for children of homeless families in Seminole County. We have been asked to “adopt” children from Indian Trail Middle School. Please place cans of fruit, soup, vegetables, spaghetti, beef stew, etc., in the specially marked collection box in the lobby; we’ll get it delivered to the school.

HOPE FOUNDATION VOLUNTEER NEEDS

The HOPE Foundation (located in Oviedo) is in need of volunteers to help with preparing welcome baskets for “Pathways to Home” program members, picking up food at donation locations, and setting up tables at community events (training provided).
VOLUNTEERS TO SORT CLOTHING: Tuesdays-Thursdays-Saturdays 2-3 hour shifts between 9:30-4:30pm. All donated clothing needs to be examined carefully before being priced and put in our store. Sorters look for wear, stains, missing buttons, check zippers and general appearance of all garments. We only keep items that look new or are new.

VOLUNTEER TO INSTALL DOORS: As soon as possible. We need to install a door with a lock in order to close off the food pantry from the thrift store.

RESOURCE CENTER ASSISTANT: Access liason-assists clients as they apply for food stamps or medicaid on line or paper, assist clients with the copier and faxes, keep job hunting posts up to date & etc. We need at least 3 volunteers, one each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 11-2pm. This volunteer needs to be able to give HOPE a 6 month committment to volunteer. Training will be provided. Contact Christine@hopehelps.org for more information.

If you are available to help in any area please contact our volunteer coordinator, Karol Ludaescher atVolunteer@HopeHelps.org.
