Happy New year to everyone! I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Christmas.

Some reminders to start the new year....
-Everyone, please arrive 15 minutes early when on the schedule to Usher, Greet or attend the Welcome Cart.
-Ushers, please help people find seats when they arrive if it's starting to fill up.
-Greeters, if we have enough people, please don't forget about the back door. Also..please remember to come out of service right before it ends so the door next to the Pastor can be held.
-Welcome Cart, all cards that are filled out should be put into one of the offering boxes when you are done. {Sometimes there are filled out cards a week later on the inside of the cart. It's important that we are able to reach out to these people early in the week that they attended service}.
-Ushers, please remember to put out the baskets with coloring books and crayons by the Sanctuary doors for people who want to bring their children to service.
Everyone-Please always check the schedule that is sent to you each month.{I know most of you volunteer the same time each month, but sometimes things change.} You can print this schedule out and or mark your personal calendars with the days and times you are serving. *Although we try to have someone give you a call the week you are serving, sometimes that doesn't happen and it's important that we all personally, keep track of our schedule.*

So what's ahead?
Wednesday nights will be starting up again.
Helping people get connected is a vital part of who we all are in the life of the Church. Part of the focus for the coming Wednesday nights will be 'Discipleship'. As you all understand, Discipleship is an important aspect of our walk with Christ. Serving is an expression of our Discipleship and dedication to God. When we serve with a Disciples heart, no matter what we are doing, we know in our heart, that we are serving God. When serving and volunteering are understood to only be obligations, we've lost the understanding of the blessing they are actually meant to be. Our goal as Disciples is not only to serve, but to come along others and teach them how to be Disciples and serve as well.
If you have time to read a great article called "The Discipleship Deficit" by Greg Ogden, you will see how important it is to strengthen Discipleship in the Church, and what an important role we all play in doing that.
Here is the article: http://coregroups.org/downloads/The%20Discipleship%20Deficit.pdf
