As Advent begins here at UCUMC we may see many new faces. Sometimes this season sparks people's faith and they decide to start coming to Church again. Sometimes people decide to make a new start in their life...and seek out God.
Whatever reason people may have for taking that step towards their faith...let's make sure they know it was the right step! =)

5TH ANNUAL CHRISTMAS IN THE CITY - SATURDAY, DECEMBER 15
Join area churches and Hope Helps to make Christmas happen for homeless families in our community. Through the Christmas in the City event, we help provide a hot meal, fixings for Christmas dinner, gifts and gift cards, socks, underwear, toys and more for thousands of our neighbors in need.
Over the past four years, Christmas in the City has provided
Complete Christmas Dinners including $15 turkey gift card- total value—$94,900
Toys and Teen Gift Cards–total value of—$105,270
Clothing/Shoes–Children/Teens—Total value $175,450
Hot Meal served day of event—total value $50,552
Over 300 Volunteers per year—total value $149,000
School Supplies—$87,725
Toys and Teen Gift Cards–total value of—$105,270
Clothing/Shoes–Children/Teens—Total value $175,450

The public celebration and distribution event will be at First Baptist Church of Oviedo (45 W. Broadway, Oviedo), on Saturday, December 15.
Here’s How You Can Help
- Buy an item from the HOPE Tree - Take a tag from the tree in the lobby, buy the suggested item(s) and return it/them to the church by December 9. Items include groceries, turkey gift cards, store gift cards, toys, books, blankets, socks & underwear.
- Donate wrapping paper and tape
- Volunteer for the event (go to www.HopeHelps.org)
- Sponsor the public event through your business.
Families in need must preregister by December 4 at HOPE (149 E. Broadway, Oviedo; T/Th/Sat, 10 am–2 pm)

If you have not already...please let me know when you might be available to help out Christmas Eve. As you know it's a very busy time for us and we'll need Ushers at each service, along with greeters to hand out candles!
